Desserts

If I am a foodie i would like and love to eat when it comes to sweet food the first thing I remember is of Bengali  people.I am not saying this because I am a Bengali guy.
'You are what you eat' applies to Bengalis. We're very mishti people. :)

We do go crazy in sweetshops. No balance there.When you go to a sweet shop and you see those beautiful colourful sweets calling you desperately to eat them.

Some of the iconic desserts are;

Nolen Gurer Payesh- which is Rice pudding made with Jaggery and milk instead of sugar, a must have for most momentous occasions. Often it is garnished with cashewnuts/ sliced almonds and raisins for extra special occasions.

Rasgulla- no description of Bengali food is complete without referencing the biggest icon of Bengali, the humble Rasgulla. You need to taste it to believe the myriad of flavours coming from something as humble as this. Now, this too has many variants ranging from Rose-flavoured to chocolate etc.

Mishti Doi-  is essentially sweet yoghurt but it has risen far above that in terms of sheer flavour. Often flavoured with rose milk, it is as thick as pudding, it is perhaps only second to Rasgulla in terms of being an icon for Bengali cuisine.

Other sweets- Bengali cuisine has so many artisanal sweets unique to each region/ street that it is difficult to mention them all .

No party is complete without having one stuffed lovingly into your mouths.
